Batwa Students and Graduates Create a Future For Themselves

There may be no better way to tell the story of Batwa building a future for themselves, than through the photos of their journey. At PLANT FRUIT we hold true to the belief that with education and practice, the Batwa will create a fruitful tomorrow from the opportunities gained at the Center For Practical Arts which include Sewing, Basketry, Brick Making, Carpentry, Carving and Brick -laying as well as hygiene and family health classes.

1. a brickmaker stands at the edge of the pole bean production site, 2. a sewing graduate holds her finished sewing projects while expressing sheer joy at her personal accomplishment, 3. women plant potatoes on land leased by PLANT FRUIT, 4. Men bake bricks before they are usable, 5. women learn basketry, 6. The sewing school graduates of 2024 with the mayor of Cyanika and their teacher, 7 & 8. Carpentry school, 9. Batwa brickmakers, 10. Learning to build homes for themselves and their tribe.
