The Batwa Chief with our Founder, Kim Mowder, & Board Member, Mary Sadeghi. As Kwizera Andrew, of PLANT FRUIT Uganda, translated. The future of housing for the Batwa was discussed during a recent visit while many of the tribe looked on with great interest.

Amy Must, MA
Amy has been our president since PLANT FRUIT was founded in 2022. She is a real estate investor and a busy, creative, room mother and mom to two precious children. She travelled to Uganda in 2022 to witness first hand the indignities endured by the Batwa.

Tracy Jordan, BA
Tracy is a founding board member.  She is a graphic artist and owner of Inklings Studio, a design firm, located in Camarillo, CA . Prior to opening her studio, she was an instructor at California Institute for the Arts for 15 years. She is often called upon to create content for PLANT FRUIT. She has a beautiful daughter.

Carissa Shrock Oyedele, AIA, NCIDQ, LEED AP BDC
Associate Principal, Senior Project Manager & Architect at Corgan, and founding board member of PLANT FRUIT. Carissa laid out housing plans early in our quest to assist the Batwa. WE have been relying on her expertise since. She lives in Atlanta, GA  is mom to a beautiful boy. 

Shana Berger, DC
Shana joined us in 2022. She is principal owner of Bodysattva Healing Arts Center and Yoga Studio in Thousand Oaks, CA offering excellent , personalized chiropractic care to her clients. She is married and has 2 cats.

Mary Sadeghi, MD
Mary has been a member of our board since 2023. She also visited the Batwa that year.
She is an emergency medicine physician in Los Angeles, California and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including West Hills Hospital and Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and has been in practice more than 10 years. She is married and enjoys travelling internationally. 

 

Douglas Turner, DPT
Doug joined our board in 2024. His principal business, Biomechanics, provides in-home physical therapy throughout the state of CA and in surrounding areas. He is a USC graduate , a real-estate investor and entrepreneur. Doug is dad to two girls. 

Kwizera Andrew
Andrew is our program director in Uganda. He is a graduate of Kampala University. His primary business is Home Range Safaris. He is a tour guide which led our Founder to him. He is our force of nature in the Kisoro district. He manages PLANT FRUIT UGANDA and has to two beautiful girls.  Andrew is married and also a Rotarian.

Cyanika Mayor Erasmus Sanyu
The Mayor of Cyanika has been a member of the board in Uganda since our CBO was formed.
He is a well loved political figure and very proud of the progress being made with the Batwa who have been a burden in his district all of his life. Recently the annual report on Public Work and Charities designated PLANT FRUIT a 10/10 which came to the Mayor's attention with public accolades.  The designation was given to celebrate the great progress being made with the Mikiingo. 

Jane is our Treasurer. She joined the Board in Uganda at its inception.

Edna is our sewing coordinator. She is at the PLANT FRUIT Center For Practical arts sewing center daily insuring the materials needed are available.  She is often seen with her youngest child on her back as she assists the students.
