The Batwa of Kisoro Hill have been unable to find work and unable to sell their goods produced. Severe discrimination is the reason for their inability to make a living. However, PLANT FRUIT has not given up. We believe the tribe can provide for themselves. They just need opportunities that allow them to do a great job for a fair income. While in Kisoro in late 2024, three young men were identified to receive the first Micro Loan from PLANT FRUIT. With the loan a new motorcycle was purchased with riding lessons and the opportunity to become a boda boda taxi driver.

Motorcycle taxis are common in Uganda. But starting a business is more than just driving people around. The young men took classes in cleanliness, customer service, making change, collecting the proper fees, and repayment of their business micro-loan. The young men have now completed their driver training and are awaiting licensure. We are excited about the income that is expected from this business venture.
