A message to our donors from Plant Fruit Founder, Kim Mowder:
For some in the U.S., the idea that there is an indigenous people's day seems like a way to remember our past so we don't make the same mistakes in the future. The treatment of indigenous people in America is still questionable. But, many think of the injustices experienced by indigenous people as a thing of the past. Just 30 years ago the Batwa of East Africa were living in harmony with nature in the beauty of the jungle. Then, without warning they were forcibly removed, forced to live in a city where they had no skills, no ability to cope. Without food, shelter, water, land or clothing the Batwa had no way to help themselves. Plant Fruit is making a difference. You are making a difference! Give yourself a smile in the mirror on this Indigenous Peoples Day. You deserve it. With Gratitude, on behalf of the indigenous tribes of Uganda, WAKOZAY! THANK YOU!
